Tinnitus & Facial Reflexology

Tinnitus is the name for hearing noises that are not caused by sounds coming from the outside world. It's common and not usually a sign of anything serious. It might get better by itself and there are treatments that can help. There are several types and causes of tinnitus. According to the British Tinnitus Association, the exact reason why it occurs is not known. It seems it is generally agreed that Tinnitus can arise due to some kind of change in life. This can be physical, mental or emotional and does not have to relate to your hearing or ears.

What can be done to help your Tinnitus?

See your GP. They will give you a better understanding of the condition and will rule out any other medical factors. If your symptoms are serious, you may be referred onto an Ear, Nose & Throat consultant for further investigation.

If your symptoms are manageable, you may want to explore the following:

Yoga and Breath work
To calm your nervous system and reduce anxiety

Improve Your Sleep Pattern
Create a good lifestyle routine and reduce your caffeine intake.

Using Background Noise
Putting the radio or TV on in the background may help to counteract your symptoms.

Facial Reflexology
Will create relaxation, stimulate lymph drainage around the ear, sinus and neck areas.
Massaging the Vagus Nerve will stimulate your parasympathetic nervous system which is responsible for your allowing your body to 'rest and digest'. This may alleviate your tinnitus symptoms.

Here is a Facial Reflexology sequence you can include as part of your morning routine.
Give it a go and let me know what benefits you received.
