Trauma & Reflexology

Trauma can come about in many ways.  It can be the result of being involved in an accident, having gone through a major medical procedure, a sudden, dramatic change in your personal or working life. It can also come upon you unexpectedly.  Perhaps current circumstances in your life have triggered past painful memories bringing the feeling of trauma to the surface.

We also have the current climate to deal with.  We’ve spent the last couple of years wrapped in uncertainty during covid times with lockdowns, job insecurity, loneliness and possible ill health for ourselves and our loved ones.

What is Trauma?

Trauma is the response to a deeply distressing or disturbing event that overwhelms an individual’s ability to cope, causes feelings of helplessness, diminishes their sense of self and their ability to feel the full range of emotions and experiences.

How Can Reflexology Help?

I regularly see clients who have been affected by trauma. Whilst talking therapy is very important, I also feel it is very important to calm the body and mind.
Reflexology, helps to release tension.  During a session, I look for where you are holding your stress and tension.  I look for your response as I access it through the reflex points.

Encouraging you to enter a deep state of calm and relaxation is when your body begins to heal.  It begins to throw out all the negativity, emotionally and physically.
